CHILLS – Spring Board: The Early Recordings (2lp/cd) 39,95/17,95

Een van mijn favoriete Indie bandjes uit de jaren 80 waren The Chills uit Nieuw Zeeland. De enige constante factor in de groep was sing-& songwriter/gitarist Martin Phillipps. In juli 2024 overleed Martin Phillipps.
Voor deze tragedie was hij druk bezig met het opnemen van liedjes, die hij in de jaren 80 en 90 had geschreven. Phillipps heeft er zelf niet de laatste hand aan kunnen leggen. Zijn muzikale vrienden hebben het voor hem afgemaakt. Het eindresultaat mag er zijn!
Met 78 minuten en in totaal 20 nummers is het een tikkie aan de lange kant (te lang, te kort, het is ook nooit goed).
Kort samengevat: het is een prachtige muzikale erfenis geworden.
