Na een kleine 40 jaar stop Platenhuis ’t Oor met de voorverkoop van tickets voor de Vorstin, voorheen Tagrijn.

HARP – Albion (lp/cd) 32,95/18,95

Een van de vele geneugten in een platenzaak te werken is de kans om veelvuldig kennis te nemen van albums die anders wellicht aan de aandacht zouden ontsnappen. Zo probeerde ik het album Albion van Harp en betrapte mezelf erop dat ik steeds weer opnieuw de cd ging opzetten. Harp is een project van Tim Smith, afkomstig uit de band Midlake.
Smith heeft zich voor dit album laten inspireren door de jaren tachtig. Albion ademt een sfeer uit waarin je een vleugje Cocteau Twins hoort, of The Cure, of Modern English, alleen is het geluid meer folky dan voornoemde bands. Daardoor krijgt Harp een geheel eigen geluid, waarin tevens de zachte melodieuze zang opvalt. Ex-Midlaker Paul Alexander speelt ook mee.
Ik zet Albion voor de zoveelste keer op en raad jou aan hetzelfde te doen.
