Sprints is een Garagepunk/grunge kwartet uit Dublin. Na 2 ep’s is hier hun debuut album en deze valt helemaal in mijn straatje.
Het album is geproduceerd door Daniel Fox die we kennen van de bevriende Ierse band Gilla Band (voorheen Girl Band) en daar zijn ook wel wat vergelijkingen te horen.
Verder noemt frontvrouw Karla Chubb o.a. Patti Smith, PJ Harvey en Siouxsie and the Banshees als inspiratiebronnen.
Het is een krachtig, eerlijk en persoonlijk album met lekker veel pit.
Doet het goed in afwachting van de nieuwe plaat van die andere punkband: Idles, die volgende week wordt verwacht!
