GERARD’S EERSTE CONCERT:

Het eerste concert dat Gerard Kamer zag was toen hij een jaar of 12, 13 was.
Begin jaren zeventig deed de Amerikaanse band Sweet Smoke ons land aan. Er hoefde geen vliegtuig te worden gepakt, want de groep woonde in Duitsland.
In die tijd had je in Hilversum een cultureel centrum De Vaart, gevestigd onderaan de Vaartweg.
Gerard moest en zou Sweet Smoke in actie zien. Hij was helemaal weg van hun album ‘Just A Poke’.
Er was één probleempje: de jonge Kamer had geen cent op zak. Aan de deur van De Vaart zaten twee hippies. Gerard legde uit geen rooie cent te hebben en hun reactie was ‘loop jij maar door jongen’.
Sweet Smoke kan heel letterlijk worden genomen, want nog nooit eerder had Gerard zo’n gigantische hasjlucht geroken.
