Tot mijn stomme verbazing is ‘This is a Photograph’ alweer de 7^e schijf van deze geboren Texaan. Nou moet ik zeggen dat ik wel bekend was met zijn eerdere werk (niet alles) maar het ging toch wel een tikkie aan me voorbij.
Hoe anders is het gesteld met ‘This is a Photograph’ een plaat die van begin tot eind blijft boeien.
Zelf noemt hij Lou Reed, Bob Dylan en Nina Simone als voorbeelden.
Maar deze singer-songwriter heeft een volstrekt eigen geluid, waarvoor ik in ieder geval gevallen ben!
