BLAKE MILLS – Jelly Road (2lp/cd) 39,95/17,95

Het debuut van multi-instrumentalist Blake Mills uit 2010 was vooral bedoeld als staalkaart van zijn kunnen en om hem aan meer sessiewerk te helpen. Dat pakte prima uit want sindsdien werkte hij als sessiemuzikant of producer voor o.a. Bob Dylan, Lana Del Rey, Norah Jones, Jenny Lewis: voorwaar niet de minste. Op zijn nieuwste schijf ‘Jelly Road’ klinkt Blake Mills als een kruising tussen John Martyn en Riley Walker ten tijde van ‘Primrose Green’. Het is misschien geen lichte kost maar wel een plaat die iedere draaibeurt beter wordt. Een groeibriljant kortom!
